Sabam’s Royalty System in Belgium works perfectly for me” – Rebbel Ashes

In a recent interview with Mc Rabbi on “Oseikrom Anigyie” on Abusua 96.5 FM, Ghanaian-born Belgium-based musician Rebbel Ashes shared his positive experience with Sabam, a renowned publishers, authors, writers, and composers association based in Belgium. Rebbel Ashes, who has signed on to Sabam for intellectual property management, revealed that the organization has been instrumental in ensuring he receives his royalties exactly as he should.

According to Rebbel Ashes, Sabam’s extensive network of sister companies worldwide has made it effortless for him to claim his royalties. This is a stark contrast to the challenges faced by Ghanaian artists, who often struggle to receive fair compensation for their work due to inefficiencies in the local music industry.

The Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) has faced criticism for its slow pace in collecting royalties from companies that use music in their businesses. However, Rebbel Ashes’ experience with Sabam serves as a shining example of how effective management of intellectual property can benefit artists.

Rebbel Ashes’ latest single, “Gye Nyame,” featuring legendary musician Pat Thomas, is currently trending. The song showcases Rebbel Ashes’ talent and further solidifies his position in the music industry. You can check out “Gye Nyame” below and share your thoughts.
