Otto Addo Appoints Jordan Ayew As Black Stars Captain

Ghana’s Black Stars Head Coach, Otto Addo, has announced Jordan Ayew as the team’s new captain for the remaining 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. This decision comes ahead of crucial matches against Angola on November 15 in Luanda and Niger on November 18 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
During his press conference on November 7, Coach Addo revealed that Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey had requested exemption from the squad, citing personal reasons. Partey had previously sat out the Sudan games.
Notably, substantive captain Andre Dede Ayew remains absent from the team since the 2023 AFCON group-stage exit. Meanwhile, Mohammed Kudus, who captained the team in the Sudan doubleheader, will assume the role of second captain alongside Alexander Djiku.
Coach Addo explained his decision, stating, “After careful consideration, I have decided to appoint Jordan Ayew as the new captain. I have spoken to Kudus, and he understands that he still needs to grow
