Cocoa Farmers Get Major Boost As PPRC Announces 129% Price Increase

The Producer Price Review Committee (PPRC) has announced a significant increase in the producer price of cocoa, effective immediately. The new price for the 2024/2025 cocoa season has been set at GH¢48,000 per tonne, representing a 129% upward adjustment from the previous price announced in September 2023.
This means that a 64kg bag of cocoa will now be priced at GH¢3,000, a substantial increase from the previous price. The move is expected to bring relief and joy to cocoa farmers across the country, who have been facing challenges in recent times.
The PPRC’s decision is seen as a major boost to the cocoa industry, which is a critical sector of Ghana’s economy. The increase is expected to improve the livelihoods of cocoa farmers and their communities, and also boost Ghana’s cocoa production.
The new price takes effect from today, September 11, 2024, and is expected to have a positive impact on the cocoa industry in the coming months.
