Black Stars Teammates Didn’t Respect Me As Captain – Asamoah Gyan

Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has expressed his disappointment and frustration during his tenure as the team’s leader. In a candid conversation on Instagram Live on January 2, Gyan revealed that he felt isolated and disrespected by his teammates.

Gyan stated that despite his impressive performances on the field, he received little respect from his colleagues. He attributed this to “brainwashing” by certain individuals who influenced the younger players to distance themselves from him.

The former Udinese forward shared a specific experience where new players would initially show admiration and respect towards him, only to change their behavior after a few days in camp. Gyan believes this sudden change was a result of manipulation by others.

Gyan also touched on his brief foray into politics with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claiming that his reputation was exploited as a “political tactic” to garner votes.
