Bawumia in The Hot Seat, as Haruna Iddrisu Unleashes 200 Questions Amidst The Former Economic Woes.

Tamale South MP Haruna Iddrisu has announced that he will be posing 200 critical questions to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). This move is seen as a direct response to Bawumia’s 170 questions to the late former Vice President, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, in September 2016 .Iddrisu plans to ask 20 questions at each campaign event he speaks at, starting with the recent campaign and manifesto launch of the Ketu North Constituency in Dzodze on September 1. He aims to hold Bawumia accountable for his 2016 campaign promises and question whether they were made on his own behalf, on behalf of the NPP, or another entity .This is not the first time Iddrisu has criticized Bawumia, having previously slammed him for the government’s handling of the economy and failure to invest in the power sector.

He accused the Vice President of trying to escape responsibility from the country’s economic challenges and mismanagement under the Nana Akuffo Addo led Bawumia NPP government. The former minority leader, Hon Iddrisu claims that Bawumia is attempting to distance himself from the NPP’s mess while seeking the presidency. He made mention of the fact that, the opposition will not let the vice president evade responsibility and vowed to vote out the NPP and bring back the one term president of Ghana John Dramani Mahama. He contrasted John Mahama’s promise to “reset” Ghana with Bawumia’s rhetoric about”upgrading” the nation questioning the logic of upgrading amidst widespread economic hardship and corruption.

Haruna Iddrisu, the Member of Parliament for Tamale South, has been vocal about his criticism of the current government and its handling of the economy. During a recent campaign launch for the NDC in Ketu North, he assured the gathering that the road from Aflao to Ho via Dzodze would be upgraded to a first-class standard as a reward for the constituency’s loyalty to the NDC. The event was attended by several high-profile guests, including Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Bernard Ahiafor, John Dumelo, and Shamima Muslim, among others. Iddrisu has been a strong advocate for the NDC and has criticized the current government’s economic management, particularly Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s handling of the economy.
