Shatta Wale Opens Up on VGMA 2019 Brawl with Stonebwoy
Charles Nii Armah Mensah otherwise known as Shatta Wale has in a recent interview he had with Kwaku Manu on his *Aggressive Interview Show*, shared his side of the story regarding the infamous 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards brouhaha with Stonebwoy.
The “Blessings” hitmaker provided vivid details on what led him to storm the stage after Stonebwoy was announced the Reggae and Dancehall artist of the year.
Per Shatta Wale,s assertion, he had been tipped off that Stonebwoy was going to win the award and he wanted to congratulate him. However, upon his arrival on stage, he was met with hostility from Stonebuoy’s team led by Blakk Cedi, the former manager of the latter who allegedly prevented him from getting closer to the microphone.
The self acclaimed richest artist in the ghanaian music industry continued that, he was not trying to disrupt the ceremony nor steal the spotlight but rather to show support for his fellow artist. He stated in the interview that the tension was fueled by their respective teams and the media, which has created a false narrative of a rivalry.
He as well revealed that, he had been in talks with Stonebwoy before the event, and they had agreed to put their differences aside. Howbeit, the situation escalated when Stonebuoy’s team misinterpreted his interpretation leading to the confrontation.
Shatta Wale’s account provides new insight into the event surrounding the 2019 VGMA brawl, highlighting the essence of clear communication and the need to avoid misinterpretations.
